Job Description:
To work with a team of highly motivated mortgage banking professionals in a fast-paced, highly specialized, real estate finance operation. The Multifamily Loan Underwriter will work closely with other members of the group in the origination, underwriting, processing and closing of loans. The Multifamily Loan Underwriter will have extensive interaction with borrowers and third party vendors to process/underwrite loan applications to finance new construction or refinance of multifamily housing nationwide.

Essential Job Functions:
Develop a thorough understanding of the “flow” of loan origination processes
Become fully versed on all policies and procedures
Primary source and contact for due diligence information necessary to complete loan submissions.
Assist in preparing preliminary loan analyses, underwriting loans and closing transactions.
Assist Originators and Underwriters in gathering information and putting together pre-applications and application loan packages
Contact HUD representatives weekly for updates on the status of loans in process.
Keep Originators and Underwriters informed of progress and problems.
Assist Closing department with documents required for commitments, closings, fundings and deliveries.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
5+ years relevant experience and education may be considered.
Accounting and/or finance skills preferred; financial analysis fundamentals required.
Customer service activities where the candidate is relied upon to respond to the client in a timely and professional manner.
Multifamily underwriting/servicing experience required
Possess extensive PC skills including: spreadsheet, word processing and database (Access).
